Independence Day 2025 is now behind us, and the Sun is in full strength in Cancer for the next two weeks. The focus is on home and family, cooking and gardening, sensitivity and caring. Spruce up your home. Invite friends and family for a home cooked meal. Express extra care and concern for those in your circle who are lonely, ill, and or in distress.
Mars in Virgo through August 6 is urges self-discipline, building an exercise routine, and getting detailed tasks completed. Venus is now in Gemini through August 25, highlighting communication, siblings, and short-distance excursions (See Ten Things to Do with Venus in Gemini below).
Neptune turned retrograde on July 4. When planets change direction their energy is amplified. For the next few days, vision, imagination, and idealism run strong.
Uranus changes signs from Taurus to Gemini tropically on Monday, July 7. This is a big shift, as Uranus transits a sign for seven years, and has not been in Gemini for 84 years. Uranus brings change and disruption, breakthroughs and surprises. As Gemini has to do with communication and travel, there will likely be more widespread use of AI. Communication systems may be disrupted and altered. Innovations will be forthcoming rapidly. In July and August Uranus will be trine Pluto in Aquarius, supercharging the themes of Uranus in Gemini. Saturn and Neptune will be in Aries at the midpoint between Uranus and Pluto in sextile aspect. This will be a potent combination for ideas, innovations, and information.
Saturn will turn retrograde on July 13. Mercury will turn retrograde on July 17. Complete communication and travel plans before the three-week Mercury retrograde period that begins on July 18.
Planetary Activity in the Week Ahead; All times below in Pacific Time:
Saturday and Sunday, July 5-July 6: Take some time alone for yourself. Dive deep into a project, especially one that requires research. (Moon in Scorpio: July 4 at 2:32 am through July 6 at 3:05 pm). Venus in Gemini makes a benefic sextile to Saturn and Neptune. Express appreciation to others. Handwrite a few notes. Gift yourself with a new tool or instrument to express your creativity and imagination.
Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday, July 6-8: Time for adventure and traveling! Plan a trip to a far-away place. Take a hike or bike ride. Write about your travels. (Moon in Sagittarius: July 6 at 3:05 pm through July 9 at 1:54 am). Uranus ingresses into Gemini on July 7 at 12:47 a.m. Pacific Time. Uranus will be in Gemini until November 8 when it will retrograde back into Taurus for a couple of months before moving back into Gemini for the next seven years. There is a long void Moon period from 2:29 p.m. July 7 through July 9 at 1:54 a.m. Pacific Time. All day on July 8 the Moon is void, and when void, not much happens. Meetings just don’t come together and decisions either are not made, don’t hold, or it turns out they may be disappointing and not work out. You may feel this energy, as it is indecisive. During this time (all day Tuesday) it is best to do routine, insignificant tasks such as cleaning, filing, or reading. Take time out to watch a movie or to take a hike. Enjoy a break from pushing yourself to get things accomplished.
Wednesday and Thursday, July 9-10, the Moon is in Capricorn, directing us toward focus and accomplishment. On Thursday, July 10 the Moon is Full. This is a lovely, grounded lunation. You can complete numerous tasks that were not advised or easy during the void Moon period the couple of days earlier.
Friday through late Sunday afternoon, July 11-13, the Moon is in Aquarius, framing a good time to connect with friends and acquaintances. The Cancer Sun trines the North Node on July 11, bringing out your talents. Let some of your best traits shine. On Sunday the 13th Saturn turns retrograde. It will be in a backward spin for over four months until November 28. During this period you might revisit a work opportunity. Saturn symbolizes self-discipline and hard work. This would be a good time to take on more work and a new challenge.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
