In the Stars June 11-18, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines in Gemini where the focus is on curiosity and discovery, short distance travel, and learning new skills, languages, and facts. This zodiacal month invites us to explore our nearby cities and surroundings. The solar Gemini month encourages curiosity, reading, making connections, and engaging in generative conversations. Learning is a mandate.

Saturn is slowing down and will station on Saturday, June 17, and then turn retrograde at 7 degrees of Pisces. Duty and responsibility call our attention.

The Moon passes through its last quarter phase this week, and reaches its darkest time on Saturday, Une 17th before it becomes a New Moon in Gemini at 26 degrees. While Gemini is light-hearted and curious, the Saturn station will bring a serious tone to this New Moon next weekend. Neptune squares the New Moon, expanding our perspective, as well as perhaps adding some confusion and disorganization.

On Sunday, June 11, Pluto backs into Capricorn where it will be until January 20, 2024. In Capricorn, Pluto is likely to churn up more political disruptions worldwide. On a personal level, these are months to re-examine the structures in our lives and consider what needs to be re-constructed going forward. Mercury moved into Gemini, the sign it rules, and where it is strong. This placement activates a need to gain and share information. Mercury in Gemini is quick, staying only two weeks in this strong place. The Moon begins a new cycle in Aries, igniting a sense of adventure. However, Jupiter squares Venus which can lead to self-indulgence. Make it a social day, blessed by a Moon-Venus trine.

Monday morning’s Moon-Mars trine sparks a desire to get a vigorous work week moving. The Moon’s conjunction with Chiron invites self-care. A Moon-Sun sextile at the end of the day gives a sense of satisfaction. June 12—Happy Birthday to Peter Faust and my sister, Paula Coleman Hubbard.

The early hours of Tuesday, June 13, hold considerably difficult, disagreeable energy as the Aries Moon aspects Eris and Pluto. The Moon moves into Taurus at 11:27 a.m., giving grounding. The day ends on an optimistic note as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter.

Feathers may be ruffled on Wednesday, June 14, as a result of the fixed Taurus Moon squaring Mars and Venus in Leo. Some drama may unfold. Express appreciation for others. The Taurus Moon loves pleasure, so be sure to treat yourself.

Communication may be strained by the Mercury-Saturn square on Thursday, June 15. On the other hand, we can give strong mental focus to goals or projects. The Moon forms benefic aspects with Neptune and Pluto, giving inspiration and determination. The Moon moves into Gemini at 6:46 p.m. PDT, inviting lively evening conversations.

Friday, June 16, is a day for curiosity and connection, The Gemini Moon highlights the Mercury-Saturn square, inviting work on a writing project. Ask probing questions.

The tone for Saturday, June 17, is serious with Saturn making a station to move retrograde. The Moon is dark, forming a New Moon at 9:36 p.m. PDT. The dark Moon invites contemplation. Complete the past lunar month’s projects before a new cycle begins. Gemini symbolizes curiosity, conversation, and community. The Gemini New Moon invites us to set goals for the month ahead having to do with connection to others, travel, and learning. The New Moon makes a square to Neptune, generating distractions or a loss of focus. Another possibility is that we can make inspiring discoveries through interacting with others.

On Sunday, June 18, the Moon moves into Cancer, focusing us on home and family. I’ll be making my way back to the United States after more than two weeks traveling in Europe. The Sun-Neptune square softens our focus, encouraging us to be inspired and dream bigger.

Monday, June 19 (Juneteenth), Jupiter and Saturn form a benefic sextile that will be active for the next few days. This aspect combines sound judgment and hard work with expansive ideas. A Moon-Uranus sextile will enable us to think differently, and perhaps deliver something surprising.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
