In the Stars June 6-13, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon Solar Eclipse

The Annular Solar Eclipse occurs on Thursday, June 10th, making the planetary energy this week volatile and unpredictable. Big alignments occur this week that may push you to make big changes in your life, especially if the eclipse degree of 19:47 Gemini connects with planets or angles of your horoscope.

Saturn and Mercury are retrograde. It is time to rethink, review, and renew. Put projects on pause, hold off on new initiatives, and re-work and your plans and commitments. It is a good time to clean up your email backlog, to file papers, and get things in order to support yourself when Mercury moves direct in two more weeks (June 22nd).

Uranus is moving toward its second of three exact squares to Saturn on June 14th. This aspect creates change through breakthroughs and restructuring, and with Uranus involved, surprises may be in store. This strong change configuration is with us all year, and will be strongest near its exactness Monday, June 14th, as well as December 24th. Each week the Moon aligns with this aspect by conjunction, square, or opposition, igniting this change energy. This week the Moon-Uranus-Saturn aspects occur on Sunday, June 6th and Monday, June 14th.

Enjoy a languorous Sunday morning with the Moon in Taurus. You can be leisurely—even a bit lazy. Enjoy the pleasures of extra sleep, a delicious breakfast, and a slow start to the day. A Sun-Juno opposition may bring partnership issues front and center. Just after midnight Pacific Time the Moon conjuncts Uranus and squares Saturn, an alignment that stirs things up, and may make for a sleepless night.

Monday is a quiet day cosmically. All things sensual are highlighted by the Taurus Moon. A Moon-Neptune sextile in the evening eases us into rest and dreamland. This is a day to enjoy delicious, nourishing food, and to attend to practical matters.

The Moon makes benefic aspects to Pluto and Mars on Tuesday, setting up the day for drive and productivity. However, the Moon is void of course all morning; you may feel a lack of direction, so stick to tasks like weeding and watering your garden. At 11:47 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into Gemini, activating a desire to communicate and connect, and perhaps take a short-distance trip. A Moon-Jupiter square in the afternoon may result in feeling overextended. A lot can be accomplished. Take some time for reflection today and tomorrow, as the Moon is dark.

Wednesday’s energies are light, but lead up to the intense New Moon Solar Eclipse of early Thursday morning. Make Wednesday simple—a good day to just pause, withdraw, and read a book.

The New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse perfects at 3:53 a.m. PDT at 19:47 degrees of Gemini. Mercury is its sidekick at 20 degrees. The nodes, Sun, Moon, and Mercury all square Neptune, making for a cloudy vision, or an imaginative one. The asteroid Juno, symbolizing the mate and close relationships, is also in this alignment, conjunct the South Node. There may be relationship issues to examine or redefine. Eclipses are power surges and may result in something intense and surprising. The Sabian Symbol for the eclipse degree is: A Cafeteria with an Abundance of Choices. The meaning of this oracle is that there are many possibilities at hand. Be discerning in your choices. Some will be more nourishing and fulfilling than others. Take advantage of what is readily available. The energies of this eclipse have a lot to do with communication, and new beginnings. Perhaps something needs to be talked about.

Friday, Venus’ day, comes with love offerings, including an upbeat Cancer Moon/Pisces Jupiter trine in the morning, and a delightful Moon-Venus trine in the evening. Friday’s softer energy eases off the hard edges of yesterday’s eclipse. Mars moves into playful, ardent Leo, where it is much happier and more expressive than it was in Cancer. Saturn squares Ceres, reminding us of our responsibilities. This is a day to nourish your loved ones, tend to your home and garden, and cook some delicious, beautiful food.

Saturday’s aspects are mixed. A hard Venus-Chiron square calls us to our sensitivities, and to consider how we have wounded others. This Venus-Chiron aspect encourages us to take steps toward healing relationships. A Venus-Uranus sextile may bring some sweet surprises, while at the same time a Venus-Saturn quincunx aspect may force us to adjust to something uncomfortable. Yet, a Moon-Neptune trine softens hard edges and the day ends with consideration and compassion.

Sunday morning is laden with the heaviness of the Moon-Pluto opposition. Get some strong exercise to lift your mood. The Moon is void of course until 11:22 a.m. PDT when it moves into playful Leo. As the Sun moves higher in the sky, so does our sense of joy. The Sun-Neptune square may ignite your imagination. This is a good afternoon for play, and a good evening to watch a movie.

Monday is a tense, potent day. The second exact Saturn-Uranus square perfects at 13:06 degrees of Aquarius and Taurus respectively, and the Leo Moon forms a T-square, opposing Saturn and squaring Uranus. Not only is this a T-square, but a fixed T-square. This is the second of the three Saturn-Uranus square aspects this year that push for big change in our lives, though fixed signs (Taurus-Leo-Scorpio-Aquarius) are the most resistant to change of the modalities. Watch for major events in the collective as a result of this transit. Be willing to make changes that you can feel this energy pushes you to address.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Pleasant, relaxing day, though relationship issues may be stirred and surprises may be in store.

Monday: Quiet day. Take a walk in nature.

Tuesday: Productive day, though you may overextend.

Ten Things to Do with Venus in Cancer (June 2-26)

Pull out your family recipes, and make some of your favorite family foods. 6. Read a historical novel. 7. Get together with siblings and share family stories. 8. Gaze at the Moon in the night sky. 9. Honor your feelings. 10. Express care through a card, call, or gift of food.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
