The Sun ingresses into Aries March 20, the beginning of Spring

This week the Sun ingresses into Aries on Friday, March 20. This marks both the beginning of Spring and the beginning of the zodiacal year. The Sun will join Neptune, Saturn, Venus, and Chiron in Aries, and on the 20th and on the 21st the Moon will also be in Aries. This is a lot of fiery, impulsive energy, likely to trigger more aggressive action. However, the ruler of Aries is Mars, and Mars is in Pisces, slowing down and clouding Mars’ impulsive tendencies.

Also on March 20 Mercury turns direct. Communications will begin to clear. All planets will then be in direct motion until May 5 when Pluto turns retrograde. The days at the end of the week, March 20-22, you will want to slow down and carefully consider the actions you want to take. These day symbolize new beginnings.

Mercury and Mars are in Pisces, Mars until April 9 and Mercury until April 16. These planets invite active imagination. It is a good time to draw, and write, and to honor your intuition.

Jupiter turned direct March 11 after five months retrograde, and now it will rapidly move through the last degrees of Cancer until June 29 when it will move into Leo. The next few months Jupiter invites us to create a more satisfying, comfortable home environment. Wherever Cancer is in your horoscope you will feel supported and encouraged.

This Week:

Saturday through Monday afternoon, March 14-16, the Moon is in Aquarius. These days invite focus on humanitarian concerns and friendship. Engage politically. Give donations to your favorite social causes. Reach out and connect with friends. On Saturday the 14th the Moon conjuncts Pluto, making for a day of deep exploration about what is important to you, and what you want to change and transform. On Sunday, Mercury and Mars conjunct, making for an especially strong day to activate your imagination with creative endeavors.

Monday evening through Wednesday, March 16-18, the Moon is in Pisces. The arts, creativity, and dreaming possibilities are at play. Tuesday the 17th the Moon conjuncts the North Node, Mercury, and Mars, heralding an active day. The Moon is at its darkest on Tuesday, and thus, you may want to withdraw and take some quiet time for yourself. Wednesday the 18th a New Moon perfects at 28 degrees of Pisces. It forms a benefic sextile to Saturn, giving grounding and support, and beckoning us toward our responsibilities. The two benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter, are in a tense square aspect, which may result in excess, or too much of a good thing. Be conscious of your spending. The Sun and Uranus form a sextile which may bring a surprising opportunity that may call for a change in plans.

Thursday and Friday, March 19-20, the Moon is in Aries. The Sun ingresses into Aries on Friday, March 20, the first day of Spring and the beginning of a new astrological year. Mercury turns direct and conjuncts the North Node, so now communication will start to clear, and we will be guided toward our true North. There is also a long Moon void-of-course period from 2:23 a.m. to 11:35 p.m. on this day, so it is not a day to set things in motion or make connections. Rather, it is a day for insignificant tasks.

Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22, the Moon is in Taurus. Mars trines Jupiter. You will be grounded and productive, and whatever you do, it should go smoothly. You may be blessed with some good fortune. The Taurus Moon loves pleasing the senses, so enjoy good food, fragrances, and the bounty and beauty that surrounds you.

________

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
