In the Stars May 16-23, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week

Tension mounts this week. Planets are shifting. The Sun moves into Gemini tropically on Thursday. Jupiter moved into Pisces on May 13th for a brief stay in its ruling sign in classical astrology for 11 weeks. Saturn is slowing down and stations retrograde on Sunday, May 23rd. Planetary energy intensifies as we move toward eclipses May 26th and June 10th. Mars is out of bounds until May 26th, making the energy more volatile and unpredictable than usual. We are witnessing this heated energy at play with the Israel/Palestine conflict. Be careful and mindful, and temper your words and actions.

Mercury turns retrograde on May 29th for the first three weeks of June. Sign contracts and complete communication and travel plans in the coming week.

Uranus is moving toward its second of three exact squares to Saturn on June 14th. This aspect pushes for change, and with Uranus involved, surprises may be in store. This strong change configuration is with us all year, and will be strongest near its exactness June 14th and December 24th.

Sunday holds a number of minor aspects that may rock the day, capped by the tense Moon-Pluto opposition late in the evening. Tend to home and family, and keep things simple. Take good care of yourself. Make the evening easy so as to keep the potentially unsettling rumblings as low as possible.

The work week starts strong on Monday, fortified by a Sun-Pluto trine in earth signs Taurus and Capricorn. Make this week count with serious goals and thoughtful plans. Venus conjuncts the North Node, suggesting that we connect with a special friend.

We may feel a lack of love and money on Tuesday as the Leo Moon opposes Saturn. A Moon-Mercury sextile Tuesday evening may help us talk things out.

The Moon moves into Virgo Wednesday at 1:59 p.m. PDT, signaling the time of the month to tend to details and things that need to get done. We feel optimistic and may set more goals than possible to accomplish in the light of a Moon-Jupiter opposition. Venus trines Saturn, enabling us to make good decisions about love and money, and receive support.

The Sun moves into Gemini tropically on Thursday. The Virgo Moon helps us get our lives in order. The Moon’s trine to Uranus may result in some surprising solutions. The Moon’s benefic sextile to Mars gives energy and resolve to get a lot efficiently accomplished.

Numerous aspects compromise Virgo’s usual superpowers of industriousness and efficiency. A Moon-Pluto trine helps to save the day and get things on track. The Moon moves into easy-going Libra in the evening, inviting us to relax into a beautiful evening.

Saturday’s overriding tone is dreamy and mind-altering, colored by a Moon-Neptune square. This energy can be used for creative, artistic endeavors. Allow this to be a free-flowing Saturday, going with where inspiration takes you. The Moon-Saturn trine supports attending to practical matters with sound reasoning and discipline. If you combine these diverse energies, you could compose a melodic tune, write a short story, or manifest a creative idea.

Saturn stations to go retrograde on Sunday for the next five months. When planets station, the symbolism of that planet intensifies. Limitations, delays, and testy situations may be expressions of the Saturn station. Patience and discipline will be needed. The Moon-Pluto square could amplify the challenges. The Moon is void of course from 2:36 p.m until 8:00 p.m. PDT when it moves into Scorpio. This may be a demanding, frustrating day. Make it as simple as possible, and tend to responsibilities.

Monday is another testy day. The emotional Scorpio Moon opposes Neptune and squares stationary Saturn. Juno, the asteroid that symbolizes partnership, and Venus are in opposition. Relationship issues may be front and center. Disruptions and restrictions may test your patience and resolve.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
