In the Stars May 2-9, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun continues to shine in Taurus, highlighting all things sensual—good food, wine, and music. Taurus loves security and plenty of money in the bank. This is a good time for saving and shoring up your finances. Taurus is a fertile earth sign, ruled by Venus, and fosters the growing of flowers and vegetables. This week the Moon moves through its last quarter before it forms a New Moon on May 11th. Consider what you want to grow in your life, and get prepared to set intentions on the New Moon.

The Sun has just moved past Uranus. Uranus squares Saturn, and is moving toward its second of three exact squares on June 14th. This aspect pushes for change, and with Uranus involved, surprises may be in store. This week Venus moves into a benefic trine with Pluto, exact on Thursday. Relationships may deepen. This is also a good week to make carefully considered major purchases.

Sunday morning boasts a powerful Moon-Pluto conjunction. Emotions run strong, and we are intent on completing our goals. This aspect ushers in a Moon void of course period from 7:37 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. which is framed for routine tasks. At 12:30 p.m. the Moon moves into Aquarius. Spend the afternoon and/or evening with friends.

The week begins on a serious note with a Sun-Saturn square. Lean in and plan to get a lot accomplished. The Moon conjuncts Saturn and squares Uranus! Break through old problems and create new structures. Mercury enters Gemini, the sign it rules and where it is quite comfortable. Mercury will be in its ruling sign until July 12th, as it will turn retrograde on May 29th. The next two months are poised for conversation, generating ideas, and making discoveries.

A Moon-Venus square Tuesday morning may make us feel unsettled or self-doubting. However, in the afternoon the Moon conjuncts Jupiter, giving us confidence and optimism. At 7:08 p.m. the Moon moves into Pisces. Relax, take a hot bath, and prepare for good sleep and sweet dreams.

Wednesday is a sensitive day. Mars and Uranus form benefic aspects to the Moon, giving zest and energy for inspiration and creative expression. Open your compassionate heart, and do something to make the world a better place for someone.

The capacity for relationship opens wide on Thursday in the light of a powerful Venus-Pluto trine. Jupiter and Eris aspect these planets as well. The Moon conjuncts Neptune and squares Juno, other aspects for connection, though perhaps idealized. Open your heart and reach out. And be open to a surprise encounter!

You will want to bounce out of bed and get moving on Friday with the Moon in cardinal fire Aries. You may want to strike out on your own and do something free-spirited. While a Mercury-Moon sextile fosters an energized conversation over dinner, a Mars-Moon square a little later may make us prone to irritations, so be careful about what you say.

A Venus-Jupiter square on Saturday morning may make us prone to overextension or overspending. This exuberant aspect, coupled with the fiery Aries Moon, could enable you to get a lot accomplished. Venus ingresses into Gemini at 7:01 p.m. PDT. In addition to Mercury in Gemini, the stage is set for conversation and exciting ideas.

We might be agitated on Sunday due to the feisty Aries Moon squaring Pluto. Plan to put this edgy energy to good use doing something demanding, or take a vigorous hike. By early evening the Moon makes its way into Taurus, where it is exalted and happy. Plan to enjoy a sensual, relaxing dinner and allow the earlier irritations of the day to fade away.

The Moon is dark on Monday, signaling a time to draw inward and finish projects you set out to accomplish during this lunar month. We can feel depleted and lacking something in the light of a Moon-Saturn square. Give yourself some extra loving care.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
