In the Stars May 22-29, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun shines in Gemini tropically, the sign bridging spring to summer. Mercury-ruled Gemini corresponds with studying at the close of the school year, and for thousands of teachers and professors reading papers and grading exams. Graduation celebrations, short-distance trips, conversation, and connection color the world in this new Solar month with the Sun in Gemini.

Mercury is still retrograde until June 3rd. Continue to review, revise, re-think, and renovate. Be careful about communication and appointments, as they can get mixed up easily. Be forgiving of mistakes and misunderstandings. This is a good time to clean up backlogged communication and reconsider plans and goals. It is also a good time to build upon projects started in the past.

Jupiter is now in Aries and will be joined by Mars this week, calling for adventure and expansive new beginnings. You will probably feel an urge to take a spring leap forward.

A New Moon in Gemini forms on Memorial Day next Monday. Gemini, a mutable air sign, invites curiosity and conversation, and an interest in many ideas, journeys, and projects. Endless possibilities abound with this New Moon. It will compel us to move beyond our usual boundaries, so imagine where and what you want to explore, and what habits you would like to change.

The Moon moves into Pisces on Sunday, normally ushering in a time of reflection and receptivity, but this day is activated by more social planetary activity. The Moon squares both Mercury and the Gemini Sun, generating communication that may excite the usual peace and quiet that Pisces desires. A Moon-Pluto sextile pushes us out into the world. Be kind and charitable.

The Sun makes a benefic sextile to Jupiter on Monday, enabling us to shine brightly. A Venus-Aires conjunction, coupled with a Mars-Pluto sextile brings out strength and truthfulness, and moves issues forward.

In the earlier part of the day Tuesday Mars and the Moon are finishing their journey in creative, flowing Pisces. Then in the late afternoon both the Moon and Mars move into Aries, joining Jupiter in the fiery first sign of the zodiac. Aims and desires heat up, and there will be more pressure to take action and initiate projects in the coming days.

Retrograde Mercury trines Pluto on Wednesday, beckoning us to re-examine and re-think matters of concern. This alignment is an invitation to dive deeply into what is underneath a situation. The Aries Moon conjuncts Chiron, reminding us of wounds that need to be healed. With the Moon in Aries, we feel the urge to get things moving.

Emotions are stirred to the boiling point on Thursday with the conjunction of the Moon and Eris in Aries. Later in the day the Moon conjoins Venus and squares Pluto, adding to the intensity. A benefic Moon-Saturn sextile helps keep matters cool and reasonable to some extent, but overall this is a dynamic, overheated day. Use the day’s tension for hard work.

Thankfully, after yesterday’s intense day, Friday is light. The Moon has moved into exalted Taurus where it is all about sensual pleasure. There are no major aspects except for a nurturing Moon-Ceres sextile. Soak in the beauty around you as you melt into a pleasant weekend.

Saturday may not start as expected with the Moon conjunct Uranus early in the day. Expect to be taken off track. Venus enters Taurus where it will stay until June 22. With the Moon exalted in Taurus and Venus ruling Taurus, these planets color the day with beauty and glory. Expect to express your most beautiful self, and enjoy the day.

Sunday is full of possibilities. Mars and Jupiter conjunct in Aries. The exuberant pairing calls for adventure and confident, fresh starts with a greater than usual willingness to risk. The morning is crowned with an industrious, grounded earth sign trine between the Moon and Pluto. After a three-hour void period, the Moon moves into Gemini at 10:22 a.m. PDT. The rest of the day calls for short-distance travel, conversation, and connection. Enthusiasm is ignited as the Moon sextiles Mars and Jupiter later in the day. The Moon is dark, usually corresponding with a desire to draw inward, but the opportunities and excitement of the day may be too hard to resist to not be part of the action.

Memorial Day Monday sports a New Moon in Gemini at 4:30 a.m. PDT., building on the enthusiasm of yesterday’s energies. This beginning of a new lunar month invites new ideas that can be manifested in the month ahead with the strength and confidence of the Mars-Jupiter conjunction.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
