In the Stars May 23-30, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

Saturn stations retrograde on Sunday, March 23rd. Planetary energy intensifies as we move toward eclipses May 26th and June 10th. Mars is out of bounds until May 26th, making the energy more volatile and unpredictable than usual. Be careful and mindful, and temper your words and actions.

Mercury turns retrograde on May 29th for the first three weeks of June. Sign contracts and complete communication and travel plans in the coming week before the 29th.

Uranus is moving toward its second of three exact squares to Saturn on June 14th. This aspect pushes for change, and with Uranus involved, surprises may be in store. The Aquarius Moon on Sunday, May 30th, activates the Saturn-Uranus alignment. This strong change configuration is with us all year, and will be strongest near its exactness June 14th and December 24th.

There is a lot of time in the coming week when the Moon is void of course. It is void for five or more hours on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Detailed timing is note below in the description of the week. When the Moon is void it is best to avoid definitive activities and decision making such as required for shopping or meetings. During this time it is best to tend to routine, insignificant tasks, so plan this week wisely.

Saturn stations to go retrograde on Sunday for the next five months. When planets station, the symbolism of that planet intensifies. Limitations, delays, and testy situations may be expressions of the Saturn station. The Moon-Pluto square gives strong desire and emotional volatility, and may amplify the challenges. Patience and discipline will be helpful responses. The Moon is void of course from 2:36 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. PDT when it moves into Scorpio. This day that may be demanding and frustrating. Make it simple and tend to responsibilities.

Monday is another testy day. The emotional Scorpio Moon opposes Neptune and squares stationary Saturn. Juno, the asteroid that symbolizes partnership, and Venus are in opposition. Relationship issues may be front and center. Disruptions and restrictions may test your patience and resolve.

A Moon-Neptune trine Tuesday illuminates intuition. We dive deep into emotional explorations as the Moon sextiles Pluto. Both aspects heighten our sensitivity. The Moon is void of course from 2:19 p.m. until 7:39 p.m. PDT, and then the Moon shines in sunny Sagittarius. Things look brighter and seem more optimistic, amplified by a Moon-Jupiter square. Dream on!

The Sagittarius Moon forms a Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse on Wednesday at 5:25 degrees. The Moon is at perigee, its closest distance to the Earth, and so it will appear big and bright. Chiron trines the Moon, offering potential for healing. Eclipses are planetary power surges. A Saturn sextile to the eclipse may push things toward definition and solidify progress. Since eclipse energies are so strong, it is best to keep things simple.

Neptune is at the apex of a mutable T-square with the Sagittarius Moon opposing Mercury and Venus in Gemini. We may have trouble thinking or seeing clearly, or be under a spell of illusion. The Moon is void of course nearly all day from 10:35 a.m. until 7:23 p.m. PDT, signaling a time for attending to routine, insignificant tasks. Then the Moon moves into practical, cardinal earth Capricorn. A lot can then be accomplished before you turn in for the night.

Friday is a productive day as we are driven by the industrious Capricorn Moon. Confidence may be low early in the day as the Moon squares Chiron, but confidence builds as the day wears on. The Moon and Uranus form a benefic trine, fostering innovation. Mercury and Venus conjunct, drawing us to socialize. T

We are prone to irritation on Saturday morning, as testy Mars opposes the Capricorn Moon. However, we may be able to ease up with the help of a Moon-Neptune sextile that sees a bigger picture. At 3:33 p.m. PDT Mercury goes retrograde. Because a planet’s energy is strong when it is stationary and turning direction, Mercury the trickster may be up to some mischief with communication. The Moon is void of course from 3:14 p.m. - 9:04 p.m. PDT. Saturday evening plans may go off the path you intended.

The independent Aquarius Moon highlights the creative tension of the Saturn-Uranus square on Sunday. The Moon aligns with Saturn, imposing duty and responsibility and making us aware of limitations. Uranus squares Saturn and the Moon, unleashing possibilities, and perhaps taking us off course, or introducing some surprises, Sunday is a contentious day, but one that could be productive and innovative. A Mars-Neptune trine in the evening could soothe the rough edges.

Monday, the last day of May, is upbeat. Courage and confidence are strong as a result of a Mars-Pallas Athene trine, and a Mercury-Eris sextile. The Sun conjuncts the North Node, drawing us to our purpose and potential for growth. The Aquarius Moon gives us objectivity to examine our lives. This is a good day for imagining and planning the week and month ahead.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
