In the Stars May 29-June 5, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon
A New Moon in Gemini aligns on Memorial Day Monday. Gemini, a mutable air sign, invites curiosity and conversation, and an interest in many ideas, journeys, and projects. Endless possibilities abound with this New Moon, compelling us to journey in new directions. Imagine where and what you want to explore, and what habits you would like to change. Talk about the various thoughts and plans that are on your mind as a means of seeding and amplifying your notions. This is a time bustling with activity.
The Sun shines in Gemini tropically, the sign of the twins, bridging spring to summer. Graduation celebrations, short-distance trips, conversation, and connection are highlighted.
Mercury turns direct on Friday, June 3, though it remains in its shadow until June 18, still exhibiting some of the retrograde qualities. Be careful about communication and appointments, as they can get mixed up easily. Be forgiving of mistakes and misunderstandings.
Jupiter is now in Aries and is close to Mars all week, calling for adventure and expansive new beginnings. Take a leap forward.

Sunday is full of possibilities. Mars and Jupiter conjunct in Aries. The exuberant pairing calls for adventure and confident, fresh starts with a greater than usual willingness to risk. The morning is crowned with an industrious, grounded earth sign Moon-Pluto trine. After a three-hour void period, the Moon moves into Gemini at 10:22 a.m. PDT. The rest of the day calls for short-distance travel, conversation, and connection. Enthusiasm is ignited as the Moon sextiles Mars and Jupiter later in the day. The Moon is dark, usually corresponding with a desire to draw inward, but the opportunities and excitement of the day may will overcome any resistance.
Memorial Day Monday sports a New Moon in Gemini at 4:30 a.m. PDT., building on the enthusiasm of yesterday’s energies. This beginning of a new lunar cycle invites exciting ideas that can be manifested in the month ahead, buoyed by the strength and confidence of the Mars-Jupiter conjunction.
Tuesday is another curious day with diverse activity, colored by the Gemini Moon. The Moon is void of course from 1:10 p.m. until 10:48 p.m. during which time we may feel especially scattered and distracted. Handle the messages in your in box. Take a short trip, meet with friends for conversation, or simply take time to read a good book. Go lightly, and allow yourself to explore places that draw your interest.
Wednesday through mid-day Friday the Moon is in Cancer, infusing these days with compassion and nostalgia. Family matters should be front and center. Tend your garden, and cozy up in your home with loved ones. On Wednesday the Moon squares Jupiter, giving good vibes and possibilities, but perhaps leaving us feeling overextended. Cancer is a cardinal sign, so much can be accomplished in these days.
The Moon-Chiron square on Thursday may remind us of our wounds. This is the last day of Mercury retrograde. As Mercury stations to turn direct, the wavering energy is particularly strong. Be patient with confusion and mix-ups. Call on your sense of humor to handle the trickster’s pranks.
Mercury turns direct on Friday, but it won’t come out of its shadow phase until June 18. Thus, Mercury’s mischief may still be at play until it leaves its shadow behind. The earlier part of the day is particularly testy as the Moon squares Eris and opposes Pluto. Yet, a Moon-Neptune trine eases the pain and strain. Mid-day Pacific time the Moon moves into playful Leo, and later trines Jupiter, making for an exuberant evening.
We are energized Saturday morning for action and adventure with a Mars-Moon trine in fire signs. Get some vigorous exercise and make it fun. Later in the day the Moon squares Uranus, calling for a different-than-usual, delightful evening.
Sunday’s Moon-Saturn opposition keeps us in check and tethered to our responsibilities. A testy Mercury-Moon square follows. Harness this energy to fine-tune plans or to tackle a writing project or communication to someone. Plan to take advantage of the efficient energy of the next few days by planning the week ahead.
The task-oriented Virgo Moon on Monday helps us tidy up and get organized. We can be inventive and creative in addressing the practical matters at hand.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
