In the Stars October 30-November 6, 2022 . . . Shining light on the astrology of the week
The Sun is in the deep emotional waters of Scorpio. Halloween, the Day of the Dead, and all Soul's Day are upon us. These are days to honor deceased loved ones. Take some solitude in this deep autumn time.
We are in the midst of eclipse season. The Total Lunar Eclipse occurs on election day November 8th at 16 degrees of Taurus. This season's lunar eclipse is an extremely potent, turbulent day astrologically. We all know the political stakes are at fever pitch. The Saturn-Uranus square will figure prominently in the November 8th eclipse as the Sun and Moon will conjunct Uranus, and thus square Saturn. Election Day in the United States is extremely tense, and may bring unexpected twists and turns. Those with planets in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) between 13-19 degrees tropically will be most impacted.
Mars in Gemini will turn retrograde on Sunday, October 30th for several months until January 12th, encouraging us to re-work old projects. Continue to read, converse, write, listen, and learn.
A message of Mars in Gemini is that words can be windows or walls, as named and described by Colin Bedell in this article in The Mountain Astrologer: https://www.astro.com/astrology/tma_article221025_e.htm.
Below is a list of some recent events that illustrate the turbulent times and big changes that the eclipses and the final Saturn-Uranus square may have influenced:
· Paul Pelosi attacked in his San Francisco Home:
· Prince Harry cut out of royal privileges by King Charles in part due to the coming release of his memoir
· Rising interest rates (yet again)
· Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen announced their divorce
· Liz Cheney (R) endorsed Elissa Slotkin (D, Michgan) for Congress
· Elon Musk became Chief Twit
· Over 146 deaths in Seoul, Korea, crowd crush at Halloween celebration
500 Literary Figures condemned Penguin Random House regarding the acquisition of Amy Coney Barrett’s memoir over her vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade as destruction of human rights

Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30th, are framed for work and productivity in the light of a Capricorn Moon. Mercury ingresses into Scorpio, sharpening our focus on deep matters. The Moon’s benefic sextiles to the Sun and Venus later Saturday enables us to feel satisfied with what we have accomplished.
Mars turns retrograde on Sunday at 25:36 degrees of Gemini tropically, signaling a time for the 2 ½ months ahead to re-work old projects. The Capricorn Moon makes benefic aspects to Uranus and Neptune. These alignments give inspiration and innovation. The night could be stormy as the Moon conjoins Pluto and squares Eris. Apply the thunderous energy to a project so at the end of the weekend you feel satisfied with what you have accomplished.
Halloween Monday is colored by an Aquarius Moon. Don a quirky, unusual costume, and enjoy the day with a friendly gathering.
Tuesday, the Day of the Dead, is an active day filled with tension and opportunity. The fixed Aquarius Moon squares the Sun, Venus, and the nodal axis, stirring tension in relationships. Later in the day the Sun conjuncts Saturn and makes a square to Uranus, igniting this tense square that is still at play. As we have noted these last two years, this Saturn-Uranus square calls for radical change. This last square aspect will be played out on election day which is one week away. This square aspect is in-between the solar and lunar eclipses. What have you been wanting to change in your life during this time? Consider how you will actually make this happen.
Wednesday, All Soul's Day, is energized by a Moon-Mars trine in air signs, supporting friendly conversations. Venus conjuncts the South Node. Someone from your past may re-appear in your life, or perhaps it is time to re-connect with someone you have missed from long ago.
The Moon moves into Pisces on Thursday, a day to be devoted to creative dreaming. The Pisces Moon forms sweet trines to the Sun and Venus. Allow yourself to be self-indulgent. Enjoy a tender, beautiful day.
We are starry-eyed Friday morning, wanting to indulge in the peaceful repose of the Moon-Neptune conjunction. However, the Moon squares Mars, unleashing charged communication and discord. A Moon-Pluto sextile adds potency to the day. The Moon moves into Aries at 3:05 p.m. PDT, heralding an energetic start to the weekend.
Venus opposes Uranus on Saturday, bringing unexpected twists to relationships, or surprises with money. The Scorpio Sun conjuncts the South Node. Issues from the past may be at play. The Aries Moon is energetic. It can also be hot and explosive. We are close to Tuesday’s intense total lunar eclipse. Saturday and Sunday are days to go slowly and mindfully, and to do acts of kindness as an antidote to the tension of this time.
The Moon-Pluto square on Sunday adds fuel to the already hot fire of the time. Again, it is another day to go carefully in the face of the tension and impulsiveness of the day. Venus squares Saturn, challenging relationships. There will be a calming influence from the Moon’s entry into Taurus at 9:15 p.m. PDT.
Pause and breathe on Monday, the day before tomorrow’s Total Lunar Eclipse. The exalted Taurus Moon draws us toward sensual pleasures: good food, music, smells, and visual beauty. This is a grounded day for getting your house in order, a good preparation for the intensity of tomorrow.
The Week in Short:

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
