In the Stars July 5-12, 2020...shining light on the astrology of the week: Lunar Eclipse
The third of the three summer eclipses occurs on Saturday, July 4th, at 9:44 p.m. p.m. PDT, or July 5th at 0:44 EDT, this one being a Full Moon penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 13:38 degrees Capricorn. The week ahead will be calmer with the three eclipses behind us. During the solar month of Cancer the focus is on home, family, tradition, and issues of security. Five planets and asteroid Pallas Athena are retrograde: Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, and Neptune.
With Mercury retrograde for one more week, in addition to other planets, it is a good time to review, re-think, reconsider, and re-construct. Communication is sometimes confused, so be patient with mix-ups. Mechanical and technological breakdowns are more likely to occur.

We are invited into a soft, meditative Sunday morning, perfect for walking in nature, or soaking in beautiful music at a worship service due to a Moon-Neptune sextile. The Moon joins the powerful triple conjunction of Jupiter, Pluto, and asteroid Pallas Athena. You could move a mountain with this energy. Lean in and tackle something important and worthy of your serious intentions and industriousness.
On Monday we turn to friendships and humanitarian concerns as the Moon moves into Aquarius. Brilliant ideas, intention, and teamwork give good results.
Take a pause on Tuesday. There are no exact aspects and the Moon is void of course in Aquarius for over 24 hours through Wednesday morning. Tuesday is not a good day for meetings and any matters calling for decisions. Attend to routine tasks or take time out and read a book. Make a donation to a humanitarian cause.
Wednesday’s Mercury-Mars square creates a contentious atmosphere. The Pisces Moon softens the blows with its soothing trine to Mercury. Creative energy abounds for writing poetry or composing a presentation with engaging graphics.
Thursday and Friday are uplifting days, relatively light in the scheme of things. These are days for self-care and pampering, for building relationships, and addressing concerns about money. Friday offers opportunities.
Chiron stations to move retrograde on Saturday, highlighting the healing of our wounds, especially as they relate to courage and independence. Mars and Mercury square off in cardinal signs, so think before you speak, as we are prone to saying things we may later regret. With the Moon in Aries, we are fired up for adventure.
Sunday’s energy is wound tight. Mercury turns direct, although slow and stationary when turning direction. The day is mixed. The brash, impulsive Aries Moon makes numerous edgy square aspects. Our impulse will be toward courage and adventure. Go slowly and carefully, and be mindful of your choices and actions.
We experience a slow start Monday as the Moon is void of course from 8:54 a.m. to 10:34 a.m. PDT when the Moon moves into Taurus, its sign of exaltation. Then we settle into a comfortable, cozy day. We are drawn to practical matters and all things sensual and beautiful.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
