The Summer Solstice occurs Friday, June 20 at 7:42 p.m. Pacific Time when the Sun reaches 0 degrees of Cancer tropically, one of the four cardinal points of the zodiac. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year when we have the most light of the year in the northern hemisphere. The placement of planets in the solstice horoscope influence the entire summer quarter of the year.
The 2025 Summer Solstice holds an exuberant Sun-Jupiter conjunction which gives optimism, confidence, buoyancy, and blessings. The Sun makes opportune sextiles to the exalted Taurus Moon and to Mars in Virgo. Moon and Mars are earth signs Taurus and Virgo respectively, giving practical, productive energy, so intend to get a lot accomplished during the solstice weekend, as well as throughout the summer.
The Sun gains additional power from a challenging square to Saturn and Neptune, and an inconjunct aspect to Pluto. We can manifest our visions, and we will be anchored by demands and tests to be precise and thorough. The tension of these aspects will serve to make our moves and accomplishments stronger.
The Summer Solstice ushers in the season of summer containing the zodiacal signs of Cancer, Leo, and Virgo. With the Sun in Cancer, and the beginning of school vacation, we turn our focus toward home and family. When the Sun moves into Leo (July 21-August 22), we are invited to vacation and play. When the Sun is in Virgo (August 22-September 21), we are called back to school and work and to matters of self-improvement. We then harvest the summer’s bounty.
To harness the brilliant energy of the Summer Solstice, you may want to create a ritual to honor the day. Be sure to include some time and attention for soaking in the rays of the Sun! On this longest day of the year, it would be a good time to look back over the last six months since the Winter Solstice in December and reflect on where your life stands, and what you have completed, changed or brought into your life in the last six months. This poignant day of the year offers an opportunity to reflect on what you want to complete and manifest in the remaining six months until the darkest day of the year December 21. What do you desire? How do you want this bright light to shine on your life? Where will you focus the courage, optimism, and practical application of the energy of the 2025 Summer Solstice? Make it a sensual, exuberant, expansive turning point in this year of your life.
